Stocktake Methods

Stocktakes can be performed on one or a range of items, and can be done in various ways depending on the particular requirements or setup of the warehouse. The following are the Micronet advised best practice methods:

• Traditional Method

This is the simplest stocktake method which is generally used in the following situations:

• when first setting up a warehouse in Micronet
• when inventory items are in one location in the warehouse
• when there are multiple warehouses with inventory items in one location within each warehouse.

• Multi Bin Method

This method is commonly used when one of the following applies:

• when first setting up multi bins
• when the same inventory items are in multiple locations in the warehouse.

• Master Batch Method

This method is used to obtain very accurate variance reports and is commonly used in conjunction with PDAs to ensure item identification integrity. Using PDAs also greatly reduces data entry time.

• Automatic Cycle Stocktakes (Cycle Counting) – v2.8

This method is commonly used when large stocktakes cannot be undertaken in a single day using the methods above. PDAs are very useful for this method to ensure item identification integrity and they also greatly reduce data entry time.
